NFL Draft Day: Be Sold Out For Your Team

Today is the 2011 NFL draft and many sports enthusiasts have been waiting anxiously for this day despite the ongoing dispute between players and owners.

So many of today’s players are just monsters, as in giants! Just a few short years ago, these young men were still in high school; can you imagine the food bill they presented every month?

Take for instance:

Anthony Castonzo
Boston College – Offensive Tackle
6′ 7″ 311 pounds

Anthony Castonzo

Nate Solder

Nate Solder
Colorado- Offensive Tackle
6′ 8″ 319 pounds
J.J. Watt
Wisconsin- Defensive End
6′ 5″ 290 pounds

J.J. Watt

Unlike the NFL draft, we don’t get to choose the family members who are on our team unless adoption is somehow involved. This can make family dynamics complicated at times, that is until we recognize that the owner who put us on our family team is none other than God Almighty. He paid a dear price for us too through what his son Jesus did on the cross for us.

I expect that most of us snicker a bit when some of these athletic super-stars complain that $15 million a year is not enough. To most of us, it looks like they have hit super-lotto; what are they complaining about? But it’s all about perspective.

Today, regardless of what family team you find yourself playing for, play like a real pro who is sold out to their team! Don’t complain about what the team is or is not doing for you; rather, figure out that the real “Owner” here cares far more about what you do for your team (your fellow family members) than anything else.

After all, what are we all chasing?
